Sheryl Sandberg is the former COO of Meta and a best-selling author. She is widely regarded as the architect of Facebook’s business model and has been named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People. But most importantly, Sheryl is a devoted mother, wife, and philanthropist who works to support women through her foundation, Lean In.
Earlier this week, I had the honor of engaging in an email correspondence with Sheryl and her team regarding Life with Lex. As a young woman, I believe in the power of representation and inclusivity, not just at school or the workplace, but in all aspects of life. Upon learning more about Lean In, I was deeply moved by their commitment to women. It is truly remarkable and demonstrates the potential of women when given the right tools, opportunities, and community. In this article, I wanted to highlight the resources Lean In offers and the impact it has.
On their website, there is a plethora of information on a broad range of topics, including expert talks, company programs, research, allyship, and more. Two things I found particularly interesting, though, were the Lean In Circles and their podcast, Tilted. Lean In Circles are "small groups that meet on a regular basis for peer mentorship, skill building, and inspiration." On average, a Lean In Circle has six to eight members and meets monthly. There are 56,000 Circle Leaders worldwide, and starting your own circle is fairly simple too (linked below)! The Tilted podcast is another amazing resource for women. It is led by Lean In's co-founder and CEO, Rachel Thomas. The topics of the episodes include leadership, politics, men, etc, and feature many guests too!
In short, I hope you find these resources helpful and utilize them. Our role as women is invaluable, and Lean In's multimedia, multi-personal approach to achieving their mission strongly correlates with Life with Lex's acronym, IDEA: inform, discuss, empower, and act! Thank you to Sheryl and the Lean In team for their support and efforts to improve the lives of women. Kindness and genuine initiatives go a long way, and I am confident that the world will be a better place because of them!
